"No Trail is Too Difficult!"
"Climb Every Mountain"
starring Anita White
as a Surefooted Mountain Goat
I have drawn my way through many many Medical Challenges with my husband. He was hospitalized from December 25th 2018
to New Years Day 2019. I "drew my way through" that period and once again found humor and strength through documenting his every day medical needs, honoring those who came to our side and using my daily drawings as a way to express myself emotionally and keep track of medical facts and fluctuations.
His Medical Complexities continued even when home. As I took him to appointments, and carried on with my work life as a teacher and caregiver I mused on how I would find inner strength. Every day felt like A Mountain To Climb. I recall driving along at the beginning of the year and thinking about my Mountains to Climb and thought of how resilient and plucky Mountain Goats are.
Immediately my intuition latched onto that image and thus a series of drawings was launched that has carried me through January 2019 and many more challenges. Every day, every appointment brings a new insight and a new Mountain to Climb. Many are challenging, some are funny and others are tender. They range from the appointments we go to, everyday moments, my need for self-care and tender musings on love, relationship and marriage through tough times.
Through it all this Plucky Mountain Goat who I have named
"Temerity"
keeps hanging in there with Fortitude, Perserverance, Humor and Tenacity. Even when it feels like she is hanging upside down on a cliff overhang.
Having this structure to lean into creatively has been invaluable and I have found it gives my emotions a structure and a place to put my everyday feelings and musings.
Hang on for a Wild Ride as I share these drawings and musings with you!
